Fifth Dimension Secures Shell Contract 03/12/2008
Aberdeen-based presenters and magicians Fifth Dimension have been commissioned by Shell U.K. Limited to develop and present health and safety training for its employees after successfully securing a five-figure contract. The corporate communications company has created a health and safety (H&S) training DVD exclusively for Shell's Aberdeen-based Pipelines Division to help reinforce the knowledge, skills, attitudes and behaviours that employees need to stay safe and well at work.
As part of the contract, Fifth Dimension has also developed and delivered a Health, Safety and Environment presentation for ship mobilisations in the UK and in Norway. The presentation, which is given to crews during shift changes, has been designed to act as a refresher course and one which captivates its audience by infusing the training with magic and humour. In addition they have also delivered their presentation to delegates at a series of five events in Norwich.
Bill Duncan, of Fifth Dimension, says, "The projects are significant in the development of the business which is entering an exciting new chapter with its training services growing geographically.
"Health and safety training is an integral part of all industries and particularly the oil and gas sector. Therefore, when hosting training sessions, it is important to capture your audience's attention to ensure they gain an in-depth understanding of key health and safety issues, and the practical steps that can be taken to counter them."
Fifth Dimension's H&S DVD, entitled oal Zero - The Ultimate Target, features Fifth Dimension presenters engaging their audience through presenting magic that demonstrates important health and safety issues which also reinforces the aims of Shell's health and safety campaign Goal Zero.
Participants say that Fifth Dimension's training session is much more effective than a PowerPoint presentation because the entertainment helps them to gain a greater appreciation of health and safety issues and, equally importantly, remember the lessons learned.
