Safety - “Within 15 seconds you had everyone’s attention!”

This was a comment from an engineering site worker who experienced our magically enhanced safety presentation recently.

The worker went on to explain that he has attended so many ‘death by powerpoint’ safety presentations over the years and that he was amazed how quickly we were able to engage everyone in the room. Of course, it is great feedback to receive and we thanked him.

Nobody says that safety has to be dull and boring

It made me reflect though on how important it is to engage everyone as early as possible. We use lots of comedy, and magic to do this and encourage others to try their own way of grabbing attention.

Stories are a brilliant way of communicating with people. Everyone loves a good story and they can have a wonderful nostalgic touch that breaks down barriers and helps people to listen.

Other people have used fun quizzes as a way of getting people to engage with the safety message. In fact, making anything fun is a good way to attract people. Nobody says that safety has to be dull and boring.
